I did not know it was possible to miss the point this badly while remaining in the same solar system as said point.

I admit I got a giggle or two out of the gay Nazi dancers, but the constant harping did start to grate after a while. Especially the parts about how those guys look like they could kick your ass. Because... you can't kick ass and dance in a Lady Gaga video at the same time...? What?

Ugh. Our local blood bank categorically refuses blood from gay and bisexual men. Never mind that straight women are welcomed with open arms, despite women who sleep with men now having the fastest rates of new HIV infections. Now after getting a tattoo or piercing, you only have to wait 4 weeks to donate blood, since they've realized those of us with ink are not all scary unhygienic people using the same tat needles. However, be a dude who's come in sexual contact with another dude and you're branded medically unclean for life. SO ANGRY CANNOT TYPE MORE WITHOUT ALL CAPS AND PROFANITY AUGH AUGH AUGH GODDAMMIT.

Depending on your country, they might be legally required to do this. Not that that would make it any better, but it might not be your blood banks fault.
And yeah, it's friggin' ridiculous :<

I think I'm now even angrier and sadder to discover it's the FDA's homophobic ruling and not just the local bloodbanks. If it was just local, I could try to find somewhere else to donate D:

We have blood drives at our medical school, and it always bothers me that they actively recruit us to donate, give incentives and points to our class, harass us for not meeting a certain quota, have the donation center set up in a really prominent place and have people stopping everyone who walks by, and then the MSMs in our class cannot donate. I cannot imagine what it feels like to have some chipper blood bank employee stop you every. single. time you walk by for three days to ask you if you have given blood yet if you are "too icky" to be allowed to. It's annoying enough to me, and I can give blood.

Yeah, it was really dismaying. I donate on occasion (I'm usually 1-2 points too low on hematocrit, but sometimes I can donate) so I knew they asked, but they also ask about travel to the British isles, which I've done, and they still take my blood, so until the other night, I just figured it was another one where they have to ask but usually clear you (though still an offensive double standard, were that the case). But no, I found out form a friend of mine who is a gay man that they just tell you to leave and never return. I'm a rare-ish blood type, so they ask me to come in as often as I'm eligible. I'm sort of tempted to stop giving them my precious bodily fluids now, but I doubt that would really accomplish anything useful if it's a federal law. Still, so angry now.

I understand that some people want to exaggerate some things for humor and that controversial things are ripe for making humor, but... Wow, this video focuses on it far too much in my opinion. There's really no need to keep going on and on and on about it in a stupid way and then trying to excuse yourselves for doing so later!

I seriously hate That Guy With the Glasses and I have absolutely no idea why he has so many fans.

To be fair, that review wasn't done by him but by someone on his site.

I do have a sort of love-hate relationship with The Nostalgia Critic, though. On the one hand, he can make incredibly insightful and comedic comments on a work. On the other hand, he can be a complete idiot regarding most types of privilege and *-ist language, as well as being incredibly immature (for my standards, which are quite lenient).

If you don't mind my asking, could you tell (either by PM or in another topic) why it is you hate him?

My friend loves both That Guy With The Glasses, and Nostalgia Critic, so it's interesting to hear other people's point of view. She's not the most sensitive person about -isms and the like, though.

It's mostly his insensitivity to the -isms. Plus, there was that one sketch (NOT looking it up) where they all got together and rape was involved, but it was just a huge joke because ~teehee~ drunk sex. Ugh.
