Yay, now I get to contribute. My mom just said she thinks mentally ill people should be sterilized so their children don't have to "suffer their mental illness, too".

Edit: She's seriously pissing me off. "You can't get sterilized because you're mentally ill!" "They won't let you adopt because you're mentally ill!"

Yeah, were it not for that stunning bit of shaming up-fuckery (whether they meant to mock people with addictions or people with other mental health issues, it's still full of jerky fail on the "problem" front, besides the whole "god forbid you don't hide your less than perfect health" with the "very hospital" crack) it might be kind of a neat product. Grrr. What douchery.

Augh, I am so sorry about your mother. D:

Oh I totally read that as look like you have a problem like addiction not like ohno you are crazysauce (since they then went on to just say that medications are a daily part of life for many people not like OHNO terrible meds!)

I dunno I'd totally want a sparkly cute pill case. I kind of want a link for that now. >.>

Yeah, they did say the thing about daily meds being a part of life, and the case is labeled "Happy Pills" (my first thought was actually narcotics, since so many of the people I know who use pill organizers have chronic pain issues) but "problems" is a euphemism I've heard applied to mental health issues before so it made me all cranky. I think that was just me hauling my crabby baggage around, which I do a lot of recently.

My dad keeps bothering me about me doing more with my life, contributing more, etc. He doesn't get my avolition.

"your limitations could land you in a place or situation u didnt plan on or wish for. you want us to give you every thing and then leave u alone. just putyou in a room with a 'puter n close the door."

It makes me want to cry and rage at the same time. I'm so sick and tired of being punished for something I can't help.

My friend used the word 'lame' casually during a conversation. I told her it's ableist, and she got offended. She told me that she considers everything she says carefully and is not using the word wrong according to the dictionary. She said the way she uses the word 'lame' is different. I tried to give her a link to the post about the ableism of the word 'lame' and she refused to look at it, and signed off.

I'm very disappointed with her. :/ It's a build up of things like this that make me want to say 'fuck it' to friendships.

Eirwyn, I'm sorry. That really sucks. :(

Box of hugs is available if Learn Hexadecimal won't mind me handing one out...

Thank you. C:

We're on talking terms again, but I don't know what to do with her. Apparently correcting people is taboo among her and her other friend who is a mutual friend of ours. I usually try to limit corrections to the necessaries, but I've often felt like THEY were criticizing ME too much. There seems to be no happy medium.

Unfortunately, I have no words of wisdom to offer, re: correcting. I am bad at it (the one time I tried to correct my research group on the use of "lame" I shortly thereafter stuck my foot in my mouth and used "gimpy" - major failure on my part). And on top of that, no one but you can really know whether there's hope for future attempts.

By all means, spread the hug-box love! I maintain no claims on the right to package hugs for recipient's convenience. :)
