I really need to stop making all of these threads.

Anyway, some guy I met on a dating site, who was otherwise awesome (up until this point) thinks some homeless people are simply "lazy assholes" who are "trying to take advantage of people's goodwill".

Needless to say I will never be dating him.

O.O

Yes, because being homeless is such a relaxing easy time, and the general public treats you with SO much goodwill through it all.

This is what I tried to tell him, but he insisted that some people are "crazy" and that there's no making sense of it.

Nice dash of added ableism there, broski. Especially considering a lot of homeless populations are the result of mental institutions shutting down and forcing their patients out into the streets without teaching them any coping skills.

I get aggravated when women's profiles list having a job as a prerequisite to conversation.

The most recent example was particularly headdesky - she went on to state that her reasoning was that she was getting a Master's in a very lucrative field, and that she'll make more money than a guy, so unless he has a job and makes more than her, he'll be insecure. So she doesn't even HAVE that job yet, she doesn't seem to account for the giant flushing sound coming out of the economy, and she assumes all men too insecure to date a woman with more earning power. According to her, "socialization and gender roles are a bitch." ...Especially when you deliberately perpetuate them instead of looking for people who are tired of them.

THREAD NECROMANCY!

---

"dear" idiots, no, saying something is classist isn't "name calling." and yes, saying that:

a] people need to pass a drug test to get on welfare,
b] people on welfare should be sterilized,
c] "only a person that was part of the university elite could have produced literary genius that is attributed to Shakespeare, therefore Shakespeare couldn't have written them,"
d] I don't fucking "deserve" medical care,

IS FUCKING CLASSISM. NOW SHUT THE FUCK UP.

"Like Shakespeare," Matilda had once said to him.

"Like who?"

"Shakespeare, daddy."

"Was he brainy?"

"Very, daddy."

"He had masses of hair, did he?"

"He was bald, daddy."

To which the father had snapped, "If you can't talk sense than shut up."

@Kaie nice thread necromancy. Those are some of my least fave comments. I am in the medical field right now, and I hear that kind of crap from practitioners and future practitioners, and it really pisses me off. I also wrote this Mommy Wars Bingo Card a little while ago, which addresses the sterilizing the poor / income testing parents issue.

@LH - lolsob!

Fuck this very much. I especially hate it when "pro-choice activists" spout crap like this. HOW VERY KIND OF YOU TO ALLOW POOR WOMEN REPRODUCTIVE CHOICE, ASSHOLES.

oh dude, you have no idea how infuriating it was for someone to tell me it was "good" I had a tubal ligation because that way there won't be any more "people like me" taking advantage of the system.

...

SPITTING FURY.
