So... d'you think it's possible for a movie title to contain the word 'avatar' without being complete shit? I refer, of course, to the whitewashed cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

I heard someone else talking about that, too. I haven't seen the movie, myself, and now I really don't think I need to.

I have had some incredibly frustrating conversations with friends over the racist casting of that movie. At the point of "Wait, Katara and Sokka are brown?" I feel it is best to disengage.

I am beyond tired of hearing about that stupid movie and its stupid racism. It's been all over Journalfen's Unfunnybusiness for MONTHS now.
*ahem* anyway.

I am also so sick of the "it's not racism if it's against ILLEGAL MESSICANS" mindset.

On the plus side, Airbender has had some utterly appalling reviews.

racist asshole proposes cutting ~illegals~ off from utilities. aka, removing their access to water, electricity, and gas.

These two posts in succession give me major mood whiplash. From schadenfreude to despair for humanity in a tenth of a second!

Argh, I have such a hard time with these "illegals" restrictions. Getting utilities isn't illegal! Carpooling isn't illegal! Putting your kids in school isn't illegal! Grumble.

I came to post a link to this "Crisis in the Crib" blog carnival at the Unnecesarean, which is a round-up of posts discussing the appallingly high maternal and infant mortality rates of people of color in the United States.

Mom, I would add to that list that PEOPLE aren't illegal. All of the terminology in this debate is racist as fuck and, really, it's sickening.
