As in all the subfora under the "Serious Time" subheading, Abusive Relationships will be full of sensitive discussions, with potential triggers for readers and important personal narratives and substantial vulnerability for posters.

Please make ample use of trigger warnings. Assume that all conversation on any Serious Time forum may be triggering. Specific trigger warnings should still be used when appropriate. Here is an articulate defense and explanation of trigger warnings on Shakesville.

Examples of categories of discussion that commonly would warrant trigger warnings:
Sexual assault
Physical assault
Suicide
Self harm
Eating disorders
Severe mental illness
Medical / psychiatric abuse or forced treatment
Parental neglect / abuse
Misogyny
Racism

Please reply with suggestions and additions.

Also, please use the spoiler tag. It is the last button on the right when you use the full editor. Just highlight whatever material on your post that you think may be triggering, and click "spoiler", and it will be hidden.

The purpose of this board is to support each other, to provide a safer space for sharing sensitive stories, and to support each other. Please, as always, default to the code of conduct.

Also, in general, be kind to each other. Support each other's narratives, while being sensitive to each other's triggers. This post is not intended to provide a framework for policing each other's posts for missed opportunities to provide copious trigger warnings or to use spoiler tags for every comment. It is to support a general atmosphere of the safest space possible.
