I wrote a post about a medical procedure I observed. I want you all to know I tone down my reactions an awful lot on my blog. I know that potential residency sites may end up reading it, and so may people from the administration at my medical school. I actually really do question the necessity of catheterizing this girl. But, I tried to word it as if I supported the decision, I was just disturbed by the reality of what the procedure entailed.

When is a person old enough to refuse treatment?

That's really disturbing. :l How can anyone be so desensitized as to do that to someone?

I know. I was happy a nurse responded and said she would have treated it empirically, too, and not performed the catheterization. It was pretty intense.
