Ugh, that's awful, Nalina. I remember my parents threatening to throw out all my black clothes and only leave the colorful ones. And also going to a family get-together once and having my dad threaten to (TW for sexual-assault-like stuff)
Spoiler: show
strip me naked
if I didn't willingly change into something less Goth. COERCIVE BEHAVIOR TO CURE SOMETHING CAUSED BY COERCIVE BEHAVIOR. Oh, that kyriarchy.

Ewwww, gross. He sounds like a mega Nice Guy (TM) turned extra-toxic.

^ I never got threats like that, so damn. That is...insane. Honestly, think about it...what is soooo evil about black clothes? It's amazing. Yeah, "fight fire with fire" doesn't always work...in fact, when it comes to abuse, it never does!

And truth, he does. Granted, I have NO idea if that was really him, or if the story is true, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if it is though, considering the vibe one gets when reading his crap.

Ugh. I had two signed copies of JTHM. I was thinking back on them recently and was wondering how disturbed the content would make me now. I don't think it would be as nearly as disturbed as that piece made me. Many, many parts of it bothered me, but mostly the part Nalina copied.

I was always so annoyed by people who thought dressing Goth or different was an attempt to piss off one's parents. I always dressed like I did to explore what I liked and to gently expose the ridiculousness of fashion norms, which are ALL equally ridiculous. Sorry, Eirwyn, about your dad's reaction.
