Here is one way you can fight rape culture. If you have just watched a movie with a rape scene:

1. Go to the Wikipedia page
2. Note the scene’s description
3. Note that it likely does not use the word “rape,” but probably instead says “have sex,” “seduces,” or “love scene.”
4. Revise the description of the scene and use the word “rape”
5. Go back in 6 months and return it to “rape,” as a rape apologist or rapist has by now has revised it back to “love scene”
6. Repeat

This idea is great! I can't believe I never thought of it. The closest I've come is modifying pronouns to be gender neutral. Does anyone else have suggestions along this line?

Yes, I do. TV-Tropes is a brilliant source for discovering new works and artists, but unfortunately it is very US-centric (with a large subset of Japanese anime/manga), white, and so on. I have resolved to look up TVTropes entries for any works that I have recently read/watched/&c by or centering people from marginalized nations, or works by or centering racialized people, &c. If those entries exist, I add to them. If they do not exist, I make them. I also add their tropes to the main trope pages. This should increase their exposure. It has not been a very long time since I made this resolution, but here is one page, for the book Funny Boy, that I made myself.

I just saw Paranormal Entity, which has a vague rape scene...

Spoiler: show
...you mostly just see nudity and blood but aside from the nudity and the fact the spirit is supposed to be an incubus, that's all there is to make it apparent that it's a rape scene. And also the text at the beginning of the movie saying her brother was convicted for raping and murdering the woman, but he said a demon did it.

The Wikipedia article doesn't mention the rape at all, so I'm wondering if I should go ahead and put that in there or not, at least to warn away people who don't want to see that? What do you guys think?

I'd say go for it, Eirwyn. It seems reasonably clear from the evidence you've given.

All right, it's done.

Oh fuck you, Wikipedia.

Seriously? What the heck. More clearly identifying something in a plot summary is constructive by definition! Is there any way to submit a complaint or something?

I don't know, let me look...

Edit: Here we go. I can report the Clue bot's edit and try to go back and do it again. I guess I have to wait for a response after the report. I hope it goes over well.

Thanks! I think I succeeded. It's been minutes and the change I made hasn't been reverted back. I'm going to keep watching it, though.
