As I recall, some troll kids thought they were being funny a while back and would go to Wikipedia to just change one word in a lengthy page.

I can't remember what the particular "meme" was, but I think changes that are pretty short are automatically changed back because of it.

I was wondering if this would be a good idea to send to other feminist blogs, to get a whole bunch of people working on it.

Thanks for the heads-up on that, Tansy! If that's the case, it may make more sense to change several words or rephrase the sentence to move straight to engaging with actual people; hitting the auto-reject wall sucks.

Little changes like this really could snowball if we could get the suggestion linked around to other blogs and make it an ongoing project. It is discouraging that some people paint "sex" as the totally neutral term when consent is ambiguous, but if they're confronted about that on enough different pages...maybe they'll start to think a little.

I realize I'm pretty late to the party on this, but re: Cluebot — That edit is automatic, and done to prevent vandalism. Probably 99% of the time, if the word "rape" is inserted in a Wikipedia article it's there as an unfunny and unwanted joke, and ClueBot saves human beings the work of reading and reverting those 99 edits, though at the obvious cost of the legitimate one. It has a built-in limitation that will prevent it from re-reverting your edit if you post it again, and as far as I know that's the best way to deal with this if anyone continues to be tripped up by it.
