I have mentioned this obliquely, but I may as well make a formal announcement on here, since it deserves it. I signed a lease on a new house, and am moving in just over a week. I am leaving a verbally and emotionally abusive partner, who I share a child with (I also have a son from a previous relationship.) The kids are coming with me, but working out long term custody is going to be complicated. I am in medical school and starting my rotations (which are intense but I will have evenings, nights and weekends off) and he is not a fit parent for 50/50 custody, which is what he wants.

It's a big deal and a long time in coming. Wish me luck, please! I will probably come back to this thread, hopefully with good news about how much better my life is.

I am really really proud of myself. I am a feminist/womanist, an activist, a strong person, an anti-bully, and have raised serious coin for domestic violence charities in my area. Not only was I emotionally and mentally devastated, and afraid of raising a new generation of bullies, but I felt like a huge failure and a fake to be trapped in an abusive relationship. I am so proud to be finally moving.

Thanks! I am looking forward to it. It'll be a struggle, but my life has been a struggle with him. I welcome the struggle on my own terms.

I am packing. I have been packing, and will be packing. It is rough. My passive aggressive / just plain aggressive ex husband to be is hanging around and being himself. My kids aren't a lot of help, and are annoyed with the packing for the most part. They're good kids and are handling the separation and move remarkably well.

I am sure things will be better really soon, but I am so over the packing and prolonged good bye. This is supposed to be good news, so I will say...Thursday is moving day!
