Little from column A, little from column B, I guess.

I do have a brain full of charming sentiments like "why would anyone care what you think, Hex?", which are probably depression-related; I also have some experiences that say people do indeed want me to shut up and go away sometimes, which don't help matters any.

Kind of funny that it took me more than a day to write this post (way longer than usual for me) and I nearly gave up several times. In a thread about shutting yourself up. I am a deeply ironic hexagon today.

Ah, I see what you're saying.

Does it help to know that I almost deleted my post after writing it? XD

Ah, I see your problem - you have my brain. Actually, I want to thank you for posting that - that precise sentiment is why I so rarely post (though I've composed replies to quite a few of the topics here, I delete most of them before posting - about 80% or so. On other boards/blogs, the delete rate is up around 95%). FWIW (coming form a lurker who rarely posts), I'm actually very glad you resist shutting up as often as you do - I like your posts.

So, who's head are we all sharing?

I've been on blogs where you'd like to contribute, but your comments/thoughts/feelings/hey-howsitgoin/ is met with that exact sentiment. "Why would anyone care what you think?"

Ah, the internets.

Well, I'm not sure if "help" is precisely the word... ;)

You're welcome. And thank you! It is nice to hear that my words are appreciated.

Yeah, I generally end up steering clear of those places. I may be an internet loudmouth, but it's difficult for me to stick around where I'm not wanted. I just end up, well, shutting up all the time.

To the original post. Yes. I shut myself up frequently. I didn't used to do that. So I don't know if it is a current events issue or something. I think it mostly stems from feeling I have nothing worthwhile to say unless it is on a topic divorced from emotions and my person. Also, I have little empathy so I'm afraid of being a soul-suck on people.

And I'm going to post this, damnit.

I always want to give free hugs to people who talk about basing their self-censorship on their fear of being the 'soul-suck' - it seems to me that anyone who's aware enough of the potential to be that is already doing a reasonable amount to avoid it.

I am amused by the length of this thread, given the topic.

Anyway, yes, I do tend to censor myself a lot, because I'm not eloquent when I'm upset and I don't know where the line is between sharing and oversharing (I've been yelled at before for turning everything into an all-about-me fest).

I've been told that I'm reasonable about that, in round about ways, so I suppose you are right. Anyhow, if you are still up to passing out free hugs, I'll take one : )

Karalyn, totally that, too, except with less yelling.

I think I'd like to dispense virtual hugs on the same principle as Tevarre. And congratulations to you, Ansalathon, for 'posting this, damnit'. :)
