Hi. I'm Quixotess. I'm 19, and I live in the greater Seattle area (where I was born and raised). I'm nervous about this post D8
I used to promise myself that I wouldn't be one of Those People tied into every social network. But currently and to my bemusement, I have a blog, a livejournal (just for following others), a tumblr, a dreamwidth (just for following others), an IRC channel, a twitter, a facebook--not much was missing. But then I saw this forum and I thought, well, it's been so long since I've gotten excited at the little 1 or even 2 new messages...so long since I formatted posts with square brackets...this is what's been missing!
The women-centered political blagosphere is pretty small. I recognize several names on the memberlist. I recognize some of you from the xkcd fora as well. A lot has changed since I used to maintain my "Sort of like a blog" thread.
I'm not sure how I might summarize myself. Let's see, what's on the floor next to my bed? Lots of clothes I was too lazy to throw in the laundry basket, bus route maps and transfer slips, American Earth, Sand County Almanac, America Through Women's Eyes, candy wrappers, a vibrator (hitatchi magic wand represent), a copy of the Seattle Times, a mostly-broken laptop, several blank or burned DVDs, Funny Boy, a Pearls Before Swine collection (not that good), first issue of Transmetropolitan, the Devil's Dictionary, my cousin's zine, Understanding Comics, a work schedule and employee handbook, a deflated balloon animal, small change, a graph-paper school notebook that mostly has gaming maps & Les Mis transcripts, and a couple of birthday cards. That should tell you something. Update: I felt bad about the mess and cleaned it a little. A spider ran across the floor.
I've read the COC.
My intentions with this forum are to attempt to determine if the mood/politics are at a place where I am right now, and whether or not I can influence it if not, and to not get too attached before making these determinations. Or afterward, really. It's currently very important to me not to ground my identity too much in any community, and to keep a sense of humor about it all.
Of the aforementioned online social places, my primary hangouts are Tumblr and IRC. Let me know if you want to connect.
